Good morning De!

Thanks.

MAy I make a suggestion just in case you do not already do this?

ON yer laptop, and I have a Dell Latitude D630 with 4 GB of RAM that works perfectly fine for business,

DO YOU perchance USE CCleaner ? They have a free version which cleans up all the junk and crap and does a really good job.

I use it daily on my desktop that I am using now, which is about to get an upgrade later today, first thing every morning. It cleans out and keeps a lot of excess files from accumulating.

Once a week I run AUSLOGICS FREE DEfragmenter and use the DEFRAG and OPTIMIZE on it.

Between those two things alone your computer will run smoothly and stay that way.

As for anti-virus, May I recommend something to you?

WEBROOT Internet Security Plus. It is extremely effective and it comes with three computer licenses.

You can find this online searching forit for about $25 or less. I have bought my last two for $20.00 each. Target was one place.

THIS is a very FAST, real time top rated antivirus and other rootkit and other bad things for a reasonably price and you can put it on three devices.

(Think JOEY's computer, and two of your own)

Lastly, us MALWAREBYTES and start with the free version, but PAY for the premium one.

IN fact , just BUY the premium one. It is inexpensive but FAR SUPERIOR to the free version and works really well. You can install Malwarebytes on TEN computers and you do not need to renew license. It is lifetime.

This is exceptionally good and simple PROTECTION for the computers, and the CCLEANER and AUSLOGICS free versions will keep them running smoothly....

CCLEANER only takes about one minute to clean up my hard drive on my desktop. So it is FAST...

Auslogics will take about five minutes to defrag and optimize the files.

Just some info for you to consider. Cheap and extremely effective....

Have a great day my friend!

SO, since you were in Charlottesville which is where UVA is, and MONTICELLO across the street and up the mountain,
do you visit there or have you already spent a day or so walking Jefferson's lands?

It is fascinating if you have not....

micro...

Re: “Are you using the FREE version or the paid version of AVG? ... Good Morning!”

Sorry for not getting back to you sooner, micro, but right after posting that message, my wife and I loaded up the car and headed down to Charlottesville to close on the condo. I only got back a short time ago.

Cheapskate that I am, I use the free version of AVG. It does seem to work okay - or, at least, if it isn't working and I'm infected, I'm not aware of it. The worst I can say is that this old laptop occasionally needs a reboot, but it has some issues that I'm pretty sure are hardware related - a flickering screen, occasional lockups, frequent logginess, etc. - so I don't think viruses are behind my system's problem. I actually bought a replacement Windows 10 laptop on Black Friday a year and a half ago and I've never used it except to confirm that it works. That tells you how long this Windows 7 laptop has been on its last legs.

This evening, when I visited yahoo mail and tried to get to the Sent box, I got a different message from yahoo (not AVG) essentially saying "We can't access your files. Sometimes this happens... wait a little while and try again. Rest assured, you'll regain access your e-mails. Meanwhile, you might want to delete all your cookies and temporary files." It was something like that. I gave that a try, doing a disk cleanup to clear nearly all of the junk off of my laptop including the cookies. When I returned to yahoo and tried getting to my sent files folder (the Sent box), AVG kicked in anf issued the same error as this morning! AVG clearly thinks that yahoo is infected with something.
