Here is the WORD for the Day:
John 5: 39 KJV
Search the scriptures; for in them ye think ye have eternal life: and they are they which testify of me.
This was GOD THE SON, Jesus Christ speaking and declaring to the "people" whom he was addressing that the pages in the everlasting BOOK we call a BIBLE are referencing HIM in particular in both Testaments.
JOHN is a GREAT BOOK and place to begin for anyone and everyone to seriously begin their journey and study to know more about GOD, in particular GOD THE SON, and The FATHER and the work of GOD the HOLY SPIRIT, and HIS purpose and ROLE in every believer's life..
WHAT Christ said in this verse is that if you are looking for how to have eternal life, to dwell in HEAVEN'S GLORIOUS PLACE WITH GOD ALMIGHTY, THE very pages of SCRIPTURE are ALL written ABOUT HIM and where Heaven is and HOW one can actually KNOW for SURE theta when they close their eyes in death, that their eyes are wide open and awake as they walk through the door of life in this world into the LIFE in HEAVEN and ALL it's wonder... AND YES, we ALL will come face to face with the ONE WHO LOVED US, and GAVE HIMSELF FOR US so that WE might HAVE LIFE, and HAVE it MORE ABUNDANTLY.
SO then. scholars, when Jesus spoke these words, what exactly are the scriptures HE is referring to ?
The NEW TESTAMENT was not yet recorded or written.
HMMMMMMM. The books written by MOSES and the Prophets called the OLD TESTAMENT are what HE is speaking of. And yes, the OLD TESTAMENT points directly at and looks forward to the COMING of CHRIST. IF you think that prophecy is not accurate, I challenge you to read Micah chapter five and verse 2 and see how this was spoken of CHRIST'S BIRTHPLACE in 740 BC.
DID it come true?? EXACTLY as described.
NOTHING happens by accident. BUt this is just an illustration that the scriptures really do speak of Christ just as HE said they did. ISAIAH is very graphic and detailed about the crucifiction of Christ describing HIS physical appearance after that horrible beating with a Roman cat of nine tails shredding wide open his entire back and exposing all the internal organs.... YET, HE uttered not a sound and stood dumb as a sheep before them.
HIS only words toward his enemies and liars who testified falsely about HIM? "FATHER forgive THEM for they know not what they do".
