Captain,
trust me when I tell you:
WAR is something that is always UGLY and more horrible than you can possibly imagine. It should be avoided if at all possible...
You will experience things and see things that will stay with you a lifetime and they aren't all good or pleasant...
There is a reason when in Washington area, I go to the wall. As do tens of thousands of others.
THis has been true for ages. When men and boys ran off to join the confederate army or the union army, they all thought it was a big game and they all was going to kill people from the other side.
After their first battle they realized it was not such a good place to be.
That has not and never will change....
I learned from my Uncle a few days ago that when he was in Nam, his unit was assigned one day to carry the KIA to the choppers from a recent battle. He could not believe how maimed those men were... It is still with him. He is Ribit's age.
Yes, if my house is attacked I will stand my ground and protect my wife. Other than that, I have no desire to be an offensive combatant.
People have glorified war way too much and glamorized it. They have no clue what it is like when you are in the middle of it.... You never want to be there if possible...
Yer big brudda still breathing,
micro..
