when your company shows a loss it does not pay federal income tax or state income taxes. This is all a matter of moving certain items into different areas and counted as a loss or expense, as opposed to it being accounted for in the revenue.

Mr. Wizard likely has seen this millions of times. THAT is why according to that article, there are so many companies reporting a loss. It is all about how the money is treated and accounted for...
