Just thought I would pass this obvious thing on as I just went through this an hour ago.
I tested my broadband speed and because my configuration is as follows: Modem - Wireless router - to computer the broadband must go through my router and then to the computer.
My local internet download speed is around 225 Mbs , up from the 97 Mbs it used to be.
However, when I tested it online, it only would go to the same 97 and not higher. So I am not using all the speed that is available to me.
WHY??
Because of an OUTDATED Wireless N300 router. It has three dipoles on it to distribute wi-fi throughout the house and works flawlessly.
However, it has THROUGHPUT limitations at 100 Mbs, consequently, the full 200 plus was not getting through to my computer and hence online experience at my desktop.
I upgraded my Router a few minutes ago to a GIGABIT router, a Linksys 1200 AC with huge antennas.
I now have about 227 Mbs broadband going through it to the computer.
You can purchase these 1200ac gigabit routers from $59.95 - $159.95. Just get a reliable one. I like Linksys, Netgear, and TPLINK/ARCHER, and ASUS.
There are plenty to choose from but it would do you well if you use an arrangement like me, upgrade your Wireless router to the newer standard. Your wi-fi will be stronger even if your broadband connection is not as strong as mine.
Hope this may be helpful to someone as I discovered it the hard way. (usually how I figure things out!) lol!!!
