3 U.S. officials dispute NBC report that Cohen's phones were tapped, say they were logged
CORRECTION: Three senior U.S. officials are disputing an NBC News report earlier Thursday that federal investigators had wiretapped the phone lines of Michael Cohen, the longtime personal lawyer for President Donald Trump. That report was based on two people with knowledge of the legal proceedings involving Cohen.
But the three senior officials say that the monitoring of Cohen's phones was limited to a log of calls, known as a pen register, not a wiretap in which investigators can actually listen to calls.
NBC News will continue to report the story.
