Re: “or maybe gone to the forest and scopped up lots of sol from there and put it in.”

That's exactly what I did.

Those rocks and roots are what came up with the soil from the forest.

I also added 5 fifty pound sacks of compost. That's not really very much, but it was enough to lightly cover the garden. I was lucky on the compost. A lady up the street makes it herself and sells them in front of her house for $3 each. I haven't checked with Home Depot, but I'm sure whatever they sell is a whole lot pricier than that.

Then I used my "garden weasel / garden claw" to mix the compost in. I don't have a rototiller yet. I'm not sure that would be a good approach anyway since rototillers dig down deep and would probably hit some of the really big rocks.

Gold is $1,581/oz today. When it hits $2,000, it will be up 26.5%. Let's see how long that takes. - De 3/11/2013 - ANSWER: 7 Years, 5 Months

Iffen I had that tractor De has, here is what I woulda done. I woulda used the front end to dig out the entire plot and put the dirt/rocks/ whatever some pother place.

Then, I would have either ordered a few yards of organic soil to be dumped nearby and then put it in the hole I had left and fill it up using the tractor, or maybe gone to the forest and scopped up lots of sol from there and put it in.

Either way, I would have used that tractor even if meant buying a front loader for the front end...

Let the muscles on that machine get all achy and not my back.....

DE, congrats on a great job accomplished.... Thanks for sharing also! I loved every photo !!!

micro....

You is just more willing to endure the aches and pains than I am..... I have had enough of them...
