WHY do old people with dementia hate to take showers??

Or change their clothes? Or eat? Or drink fluida?

We got my father-in-law pants that fit and w web belt that has holes every 1/2" along its length. He still keeps his pants unfastened and holda them up. An old man holding up his pants is just the same as a sign around his neck that says "I am ola and senile."

We just moved them into an assisted living facility and it is not going well. My wife just realized that they mixed their clean clothes with the dirty so we are washing ALL of their clothes tonight.

I know we are fortunate to still have them at 90 and nearly 89 years old, but it was certainly easier when they knew what state (and decade) they are in.

hear ya ribit !

Don;t know how much longer I have with my father before that happens.

As it is, he currently does not drink, and he hates to get a shower. Not a good combination...

Orange urine and he can;t control his bladder too well so he soaks and over fills his depends.

NOW how do I get him to remember to change them twice a day???
AND to drink the water/gatorade I filled his refrigerator with ????
