As an employer I can tell you for a fact that
the same people who do not work "HARD" today will be same ones who do not work hard any time under any system. I have seen thousands of employees in my career and the very ones today whose names I recall easily are the ones who wanted to EARN their paycheck by doing their best every day while getting paid for their time. They had incentive enough to come and apply for a job in order to earn money so the incentive is to earn a pay check.

Depending upon the type of Socialistic program in place the incentive to earn a paycheck to have money to do things within the collective should be same..

The only thing that changes in the amount of so called free services people get being too stupid to realize that they aren't free and they are nothing but serfs to the elitist Lords who make the rules for and over them.
I think Zim had it right in light of context.

Oh, I think you're right but it's one of the smaller reasons why it doesn't work. The biggest reason socialism doesn't work is because once people discover that there is no monetary incentive to work HARD, most choose to do only as much as they have to do to avoid punishment. Under socialism, only true believers and those who love their work put in the extra effort it takes for a society to prosper, and there just aren't enough of those people to carry the majority.
