I'm sure most of you have heard about the fires in California. Up until a few days ago, they were mostly confined to Northern California, but not any longer. There is currently a 10,000+ acre fire, known as the 'Holy Jim Canyon' fire, now burning in Orange County for the last few days. It has now gotten close enough that we can see the flames from our neighborhood. The image below was taken about 30 minutes ago from outside the gate to our community. My best estimate is that the flames that you see are about 10 miles away:
The photo was taken with my Sony a6000 camera using a 210mm lens at full zoom.
While it looks bad, and it is for many people, it's still a long way from where we live and there are about six miles of densely populated housing between us and the foothills, over which is where the fire is burning. These are relatively new homes all with fireproof roofs and limited vegetation so I think were OK, at least for now.
