If you have a tire swing you would like to keep, you do not have to cut it down - you can drill a hole (or a few holes) through the tread at the bottom and that will allow the water to drain. The swing should still be quite functional.

Mineral oil works wonders on the little buggers. We periodically put some in the junction boxes of our yard's drainage system.

Re: “If ya have old tires that have water ”

Hm. I didn't think about tires. There are a couple. One was used years ago as a swing. I should probably cut it down and get rid of it. The other covers my septic cap - so that I never accidentally mow over it. I should put some oil into that one.

Aside from those, there isn't anything nearby that's obvious. But the forest isn't far in that direction, and water could always pool on some of the fallen or dead trees. The biggest issue, though, is that if you continue a bit further - say a hundred yards into the woods, the little creek that meanders that direction slows down and turns swampy. I've got a muddy area that's perhaps 50' x 50' with very little water flow. Mosquitoes probably love it.
