Unfortunately, it's probably inevitable.
The article says that by 2030, 73 million Americans will have been displaced from their jobs by automation. It mentions the need to re-train them - perhaps as robot repairmen.
I'm far more pessimistic. I think robots will be able to do robot repair. I think that through AI, they will be able to DESIGN themselves. I think they'll be able to do just about everything. About the only jobs that will remain for humans will be CORPORATION OWNER and POLITICIAN. Obviously, there won't be many of those.
Where does that leave humans? If they maintain their clout with government, they can collect Universal Basic Income from the corporations. But if they lose that clout - if government ceases to act in their interest or is no longer able to force corporations to pay - then most of humanity will starve.
It's not a very bright future, is it?
