Trump's Scottish Golf Course Runs Up Massive Losses—Again
Donald Trump's flagship Scottish golf course has run up multi-million dollar losses for the fourth year running.
In the U.K., companies are forced to file annual accounts and tax returns which are made publicly available. The 2017 filings for Golf Recreation Scotland Limited, the parent company of the Trump Turnberry resort, reported losses of £3.38 million which is just under $4.5 million.
A redevelopment of the course and hotel took place at the resort in 2016 and this year's figure is significantly smaller than the £17.6 million losses posted last year. The president's son and company director Eric Trump said: “The directors believe that in the short to medium terms, the resort will have operating profitability for the first time in 10 years.” Trump purchased the resort in April 2014.
