It's was reported that Trump doesn't even like Kavanaugh claiming that he was a "Bush guy" and couldn't be trusted. But that it was White House Attorney Don McGahn who convinced him to consider him. It was also reported that Trump had never even met him before he was put on the short list for the court (note that Kavanaugh's name was NOT on Trump's list of potential justices that he was touting during the campaign). He only went along with the idea when he was told that his confirmation by the Senate was a slam-dunk, however, McConnell warned him that he had too much 'baggage' (makes you wonder if and what he knew).
