One of the big reasons America has been successful is that it is about reinvention and adaptation. It has been its great strength. Taking down a huge stadium to build a new, better one, that reflects today’s needs, on ithe old one’s ashes, is all about America.
Sticking with a Constitution, and interpreting it literally based on 200 years old realities, that while being a great document to begin with, no longer covers ALL the needs of a population of 300 mil, vs. 1.5 mil, IN THE 21st. CENTURY, is a recipe for the eventual demise of America, as strife rears it’s head when huge populations live by the standards of a few ludites, as well as modern barons who plow through in order to enrich themselves and control everything, while throwing crumbs to the masses that support them. Cesar did this with bread and spectacle, and look what happened to Rome, and .....Cesar.
Unfortunately, it will take at least a couple of decades before the old geezers in flyover country die off, and more educated, younger crowds decide to do away with much of what the flyover crowd is imposing on them using the Constitution and the electoral system as weapons. Look at the rallies of different candidates, and the age differences are obvious.
To say that Montana and Wyoming, for example, should have equal number of representatives and weight in the Senate, with New York and California, is fkng absurd TODAY, and that is the same problem as the electoral system issue. It should only exist for the House, but not national elections and the Senate. One man one vote for national elections, and if the Senate is to stay as is, then the old 60 vote majority requirements should return. You’d have to be shortsighted not to see the oncoming train if this continues, at this junction.
