ZIM, we took a ship, then rented a car and drove to Denali. We also stayed in some little dump in the middle of nowheresville. It was owned by the US Govmt, and it was closing very soon after we were leaving. It should have closed much, much sooner. Doesn't matter now, but we took a bus up to see Denali. I was petrified. I thought the bus driver was a dope smoker. Real laid-back, went too fast and was a general goof-off, imo.
They sell blueberries in stores. That's the rumor.
I don't remember the other passengers that well, except for this British couple who wanted to see everything. British accent: "there's a bear with a cub as well..." Again, the bus stops. I thought I was going to smack him one. There wasn't room for one bus to pass another bus, so we were always pulling over. No guard rails --- not good.
At one point, we made a pit stop to use the facilities. I told the bus driver to pick me up on the way back, as I wasn't going any higher. He told me about the bears, so I kinda had to get back on the bus. You sound as though you liked it. Luckily, I have the brains not to go back.
Oh yeah, I saw the wolves, the bears and the dall sheep, not to mention all other wildlife.
I'm a bird watcher, too. When I see a bird, I'm watching to see if it is dive-bombing towards me, or if he is going to crap on my head.
I'm glad you enjoyed it, as you would have never gone had you asked me first!
If you think education is expensive, try ignorance.
