It's all good.
I'll just have to re-calibrate is all.

For example, if Clo claims something, I know the truth
is about a quarter mile to the right of what she said.

In your case, if you say a road is 'terrifying',
I need to translate it as 'this might be a fun road
to drive up'.

Bird watching is fun if, either A.) one is already an avid birder.
Or, B.) one is with avid birders who really know the birds and
one lets their obvious delight infect them as well.

Hanging out with good people can be a lot of fun.

I remember once, when I was volunteering at Back Bay,
it was time for the annual Christmas bird count. I
got to hold the clipboard and write down what the others
said they saw. We saw a flock of birds about a quarter
mile away and Donna, a ranger type employee at the
Refuge, said they was ring billed gulls, about 70 of
them. Now I'd already learned about estimating a tenth
of the flock, counting how many and multiply by ten so
seventy was not a stretch. I asked how do you know they
is ring billed gulls? Ten minutes later the boat was
closer and I got a good luck through the binoculars,
and, sure enough, they was ring billed gulls.

But grizzly bears are OK. As long as I'm watching them
from a safe distance.

ZIM, we took a ship, then rented a car and drove to Denali. We also stayed in some little dump in the middle of nowheresville. It was owned by the US Govmt, and it was closing very soon after we were leaving. It should have closed much, much sooner. Doesn't matter now, but we took a bus up to see Denali. I was petrified. I thought the bus driver was a dope smoker. Real laid-back, went too fast and was a general goof-off, imo.

They sell blueberries in stores. That's the rumor.

I don't remember the other passengers that well, except for this British couple who wanted to see everything. British accent: "there's a bear with a cub as well..." Again, the bus stops. I thought I was going to smack him one. There wasn't room for one bus to pass another bus, so we were always pulling over. No guard rails --- not good.

At one point, we made a pit stop to use the facilities. I told the bus driver to pick me up on the way back, as I wasn't going any higher. He told me about the bears, so I kinda had to get back on the bus. You sound as though you liked it. Luckily, I have the brains not to go back.

Oh yeah, I saw the wolves, the bears and the dall sheep, not to mention all other wildlife.

I'm a bird watcher, too. When I see a bird, I'm watching to see if it is dive-bombing towards me, or if he is going to crap on my head.

I'm glad you enjoyed it, as you would have never gone had you asked me first!
