An interesting irony to this post is that I'm on vacation (from retirement) and my laptop is broken - so I'm borrowing my wife's laptop after a week going cold turkey. I've been passing time playing MINECRAFT on the X-box. Great game. I'm glad to hear that its creator is apparently Conservative.
When you see Minecraft, it's tempting to write it off as juvenile. After all, its graphics are so clunky. However, I highly recommend it. The game is quite remarkable and extremely interesting. I now put Minecraft in a select group of games that I consider the most creative, entertaining and important of all time.
Since I have to buy a new laptop anyway, I'm planning to buy something with enough horsepower to run Minecraft, then get tools that allow me to construct my own geography and agriculture for the game. Just for my own use, I'm going to create a version of Minecraft that is my farm - with each block representing, perhaps, one cubic foot of reality. I'll probably never get it that accurate, but it will be fun to try and even more fun to show to friends who ask about the place. I could host a game that takes place on my own land.
