The George Washington Bridge alone was $15 

...I would abandon my car and swim the river before I paid that much. Why do people in the NE put up with that kind of crap. Tax ya to build something and then charge ya to use it. They oughta call it the One Percenter Bridge.

Made it. Took about 12 hours thanks to a disastrous attempt (my fault) to save 30 minutes. Instead of staying on 81 North, I deviated from the Google Maps recommendation in favor of my old Garmin GPS's route and drove through Allentown. The GPS said it was significantly faster... probably shorter too. I figured it meant a toll someplace since Google Maps had been told to exclude them, unlike the Garmin. If I'd been right, it might mean spending $1.25 like most of New York's other toll roads. Saving 30 miles and 30 minutes for $1.25 is a good deal!. Unfortunately, the GPS route continued from Allentown into NYC. The George Washington Bridge alone was $15, and I don't know what the various turnpikes added up to. Worst of all, it actually took us 90 minutes LONGER than the original route. %@#$. I'll never do that again.

Home sweet home. We've been up since 04:15. Time to crash.
