No, I have never been to the bottom of the Canyon, but it is a common stop for people who are hiking. Hiking 'Rim-to-Rim" in one day is quite a feat, roughly on the level of a triathlon.

And, yes, the tickets go VERY quickly. We tried one year and I think we later found we had the wrong phone number. So, you would need to verify how to get the reservation.
