Democratic gubernatorial candidate Stacey Abrams said on Tuesday's "The View" that she would support a ban on the AR-15 - but she changed the subject when asked whether she would also support confiscation of AR-15s already in circulation in her home state of Georgia. ...
Abrams addressed the AR-15 specifically, saying:
I do not believe like weapons of mass destruction like the AR-15 belong in civilian hands. I think it should be prohibited from civilian use. I have shot an AR-15, and I think you probably have too, and while it's an amazing amount of power, it also is an amazing amount of destruction, and there is very little that can be done to protect vulnerable communities when the AR-15 is present. ...
The AR-15 is a .22 caliber pop-gun. It is NO weapon of mass destruction. The reason why it is an effective self-defense rifle is because recoil is light and you can more easily keep it on target for more than one shot ... and many times you need multiple shots on target to end the fight ... because the cartridge simply is not that powerful. So, Ms. Abrams ... quit being such a willing, ignorant tool yapping about things on which you clearly have NO knowledge. And as for your senseless lie about there being "very little that can be done to protect vulnerable communities when the AR-15 is present" ... that's a steaming load of BS. The easy solution is to have AR-15s ... or even better, yet ... AR-10s ... in the able and ready hands of responsible, lawful citizens who can use them to stop the criminal use of firearms.
