OCU

As a mechanical engineer since 1977, an Industrial engineer, a MSME in 1981, I am quite familiar with what Cad Cam, Computer Aided Drawing is..

I started my engineering career out designing and routing production parts for Machine Tools at then the U.S. number one maker, Cincinnati Milling Machine Company.

We certainly have come a long way since then and now I play with things like Printers and CNC machining and turning centers and other associated high production and precision equipment. NOTHING got manufactured at Milacron unless MY name was on it as approved for manufacture.
That meant ALL the details and drawings were checked for accuracy and how and where individual were going to be manufactured.

SO, yes sir, I do know CAD but also CAM. Remember NC programming?? SLower than slow turret punch presses? Then the CNC turrets from Kinfg of Prussia became available and after a visit to their plant in Pennsylvania, we had the first one in Ohio...

Sounded like a machine gun going so fast..
Then came the laser cutters, plasma arc, and water jets.

They all helped speed things up. After this, I went back to Xavier University and received my Masters in Business.

From there I began running companies and then began my own.. Been a long voyage.

Sounds like you have had one as well.

OCU stands for old CAD user, as in CAD - Computer Aided Design. The 'old' part is a result of having been involved in using this technology since 1977, when interactive engineering software was very new.

For details on what CAD is and how it's used, try this sight:

And for details of the particular version of the software that I was involved with, try:

And if you wish to dive really deep into the history of NX, try this site (note that 'NX' was once known as 'Unigraphics'):
