Re: "It’s a full house at Huntsville Animal Services."
Did you notice that ALL they showed were cats and big dogs?? That's about what we found here when we were looking last summer: Cats, large dogs, dogs that had been returned repeatedly (vicious), a deaf dog, dogs that wouldn't stop cowering and shaking (neurotics), dogs that were eleven years old, dogs that were in hospice (dying), etc.

We traveled to seven or eight animal shelters in NH, VT and MA and didn't find a single friendly, healthy dog, 30 lbs or less, that wasn't at least eight years old. It was unbelievable. It convinced me that the NEUTERING/SPAYING campaign has gone way overboard, to the point that getting a good MUTT is nearly impossible. I think there's a war on dogs by the Left. (Liberals want everyone to move to cities, live in apartments and have cats.)

Sure, if we'd been willing to spend $1,500 we could have gotten the puppy we wanted, but that was about the only way.

Large cities may be an exception. At the time we were looking, we heard that NYC was having a dog faire and had hundreds of pets available for adoption. But that's a 4 hour drive (and I despise that place.)

Gold is $1,581/oz today. When it hits $2,000, it will be up 26.5%. Let's see how long that takes. - De 3/11/2013 - ANSWER: 7 Years, 5 Months
