Require U.S. employers to check the status of their staff (employees and contractors) against a federal listing of citizens and legal residents. Checking should be easy, and hiring an illegal alien should be a serious enough offense that nobody will do it. No jobs? I think the problem will go away - as will most of the illegals already here.
