De

so if ya gets stented, you are gonna have yer chest cacked open anyway?

Wow. I was told some years ago that I might need a stent because I had supposedly an artery that was 70 percent clogged.

They was just gonna take care of with anangioplasty. Nobody said anything about having to crack open my chest some weeks later OR removing the stent.....

Glad I did not ultimately need the stentand the 70 percent was just pure BS as I thought it was...

Re: "WHY would you need open heart surgery if a stent would take care of the blood flow issue?"
Hey, who's the surgeon general around here?? You should direct your medical questions to me.

The stent's main advantage is that it can be inserted non-invasively, avoiding the trauma, infection and dropped surgical implement risks created by cracking the chest. When non-invasive surgery can be done, it's preferable. Stents are generally removed after 8 to 12 weeks. Doctors do this by cracking the chest.
