My thoughts on reparations:
One of my great-great grandfathers fought to free the slaves. I have evidence he found it quite traumatic. Does anyone owe him (us) something?
Another branch of my family was in England until 1900. They didn’t benefit from US slavery.
I often watch the PBS show “Finding Your Roots” where they research the family history of well known people. They found that Michael Moore’s white Scottish ancestor was sent from England to the US as a slave. Do we owe him reparations?
Also, they found that an African American person (I forget who) had black ancestors who owned slaves. They probably owe someone something.
As in much of history, slavery is MUCH more complicated than black vs white. (Not to mention Decomp’s black identity.)
