De,
I would strongly suggest you research into the 'why' ten year
old propane tanks are not supposed to be refilled . . . .

If there is a really good reason you might not want to risk it.

Why?

It’s a safety measure. Old tanks may have leaks, rust, punctures or other safety hazards. Plus, expiration dates ensure that your tank has the latest valve safety update.

What are my options?

If your tank is expired, you have two options. Depending on the tank, its safety features and the date of initial certification, you may be able to get it recertified. This extends its expiration date for another five years.

Right. I don't know how to fill them any other way. Maybe if I had a hundred pound tank I could get an adapter and just fill the smaller tank off the larger one. Maybe. I'm not sure if such adapters are sold or if that's even a viable technique. I think that when tanks are filled at a station, a pump is involved.
