Re: "Glycine"
Great post! Thanks for taking the time to write it. And, yes, I "got [that] far."

I take it you aren't losing a lot of sleep, pun intended, over the Roundup lawsuits and their claims that glycine or something else in the herbicide is causing cancer?

Gold is $1,581/oz today. When it hits $2,000, it will be up 26.5%. Let's see how long that takes. - De 3/11/2013 - ANSWER: 7 Years, 5 Months

Hey guys (and Kathy wherever you are!) I mentioned i would follow up about me personal lab rat experiment so here you go. A tad long yet worth the read imho.

SO this link is to the article on the ethnobotanist that got me started down this rabbit hole that I posted a month or so ago. I think he might be on to something regarding Alzheimer's and it is an interesting theory:
http://fortune.com/longform/alzheimers-disease-cure-breakthrough/?fbclid=IwAR2f3TDLA2KrtJSZ8AiQSvALobpfOES2udaUVZmtXI8mzl0CcQSk5Kv7kew

I was talking with a friend about loving pork rinds - they came into play when I started doing keto and intermittent fasting (I have lost 32+ so far this year) yet they already fit something else as pork rinds happen to be a great source of glycine and glycine can help detoxify our bodies from glyphosate - aka ROUNDUP! This is all interconnected as Alzheimer's is theoretically connected to non-essential amino acids and poor sleep.

So that leads us to L-Serine. This product distributor has a good write up on L-Serine here:
http://purebulk.com/products/l-serine?variant=14294860365873 Take NOTE all of the natural chemical connections to better sleep.

And that leads us to lack of sleep and Alzheimer's being potentially related:
http://www.sciencenews.org/article/lack-sleep-tied-increases-two-alzheimers-proteins-brain?fbclid=IwAR0TZZmerFAVM7Y7e8qI8vHjZMIlTjSQrzMoomXe-83K9JV5NbmTtis7cJk

Lo and behold guess what L-Serine is synthesized from? GLYCINE!! Glycine is a natural sleep aid. Perhaps just as important, Glycine also happens to bind to the same neurotransmitters that glyphosate (the poison we all have in our bodys from what is called GMO and also I call it Round-Up ready!) and it actually helps to detoxify glyphosate. Lots of winning with this potentially and it is fairly inexpensive considering the alternatives!

A breakdown of Glycine uses:
http://examine.com/supplements/glycine/

And low and behold glycine is an ingredient in that new ice cream I mentioned I saw that is meant to help one sleep. WHO KNEW :-)
http://nightfood.com/products/midnight-chocolate/ AND as mentioned one of the BEST food sources for glycine happens to be pork rinds!!! And again pork rinds are fantastic for a "keto breading" and/or as chips.

Here is a super DEEP dive into glycine if you want to swim in fun science LOL
http://academic.oup.com/ajcn/article/76/6/1302/4689577?fbclid=IwAR23yja6WHfQhMgoWKZlloWOG6d_9ATQOw3QsBv9iqb6Nyy9tyPTAExeGjs#109573672

And another KEY mineral is Magnesium. Other than a bath in epsom salt one way to ingest Magnesium (other than the foods that are rich in magnesium) is Magnesium Glycinate. Interesting how that also ties into Glycine!! Here is a good write up on that one: http://purebulk.com/products/magnesium-glycinate?variant=14286760902705

SO with all of the information above I have distilled it down to this currently and this is what I am doing. Of note - I do not take any medications, vitamins or supplements other than what I am currently doing. In the morning I am taking 2.5g of Magnesium Glycinate (not every morning - 3 or 4 times a week) and 2g of L-Serine. I measure it out and then dump directly into my mouth and wash it down with a glass of water this way I know I have ingested it all and nothing is left behind. L-Serine is slightly sweet so it is not too bad. In the evening I am taking 4G of Glycine and I do the same thing. Of note Glycine is kinda like sugar so swishing it around and washing it down with water is a snap! Buying these in bulk, cost wise we are talking well less than 50 cents a day. That seems very reasonable to me to maintain mental acuity and potentially avoid Alzheimer's and have better sleep. Keep in mind I have no formal medical training and odds are pretty good that I am an early adapter of this strategy yet I have stayed in many Holiday Inns (LOL) in the past so apply this information as you see fit. In the short period of time I have been doing this combo I can honestly say I am sleeping better already.

Obviously IF you got this far in full disclosure this is in no way to be construed as medical advice and I am sharing this so that it might be of help for the board members in increasing our collective longevity.

PEACE y'all and have a great weekend!
