Fortunately, nothing bad is in my water. (And it tastes great!)

Great MIne out on the island was safe but a really bad sulfur smell and taste. I had to put 2 BIG BLUE carbon filters they are called. Spendy on the filters. I put a switch valve when I was watering the lawn and such, I would bypass the filters........

These tests were really simple and anyone who isn't color blind can do them. Most just involve putting a strip into the water, or putting water into a tube, then watching to see what color turns up - either on the strip or in the water. The more complicated ones involve shaking a tube, or waiting 5 minutes. Whoa! Scary! The results get compared to a piece of paper that shows various colors and says what they mean.

So, for instance, my "HARDNESS" result of 100ppm might have actually been 80ppm. I don't know since the scale jumps from one color tone (50) to the next (100) with no in-between. It doesn't really matter. My water is too high on that. It's not a big deal, though. Now I know about it, and it's not something that will kill me, so I'll either deal with it or I won't. If it were reporting LEAD or PESTICIDES, I'd be concerned. Fortunately, nothing bad is in my water. (And it tastes great!)
