You should purchase a laptop cooler for it to sit on when you are using it. They generate a lot of heat and a cooler with multiple fans blowing air up into that will help keep it cool and long lasting. You can get one for under $35. and is well worth it if you do not currently use one..

My new laptop arrived yesterday. I spent a good part of today configuring it. Office, Dragon, Lazarus, AVG, three browsers and a number of other applications I use are installed, configured and working. The machine feels like new, but wow is it ever big and heavy -- 6.35 lbs, per the specs. Fortunately, I'm not not moving it around much. The weight won't bother me.
`
My previous laptop spoiled me with regard to heat. It was never hot, even if left it on a mattress or cushion for a few hours. The new one emits a lot of heat and I've already unpacked a notebook cooler for use with it.
`
It seems to be fast, but new systems always do. Do any of you have a benchmarking tool you'd recommend? I'd like to see how it compares with my old systems (two of which are much newer models.)
`
So far, so good.
