Realist - Everybody in America is soft, and hates conflict. The cure for this, both in politics and social life, is the same -- hardihood. Give them raw truth.

The home designer has gotten back to us with updated and really impressive new drawings. We told him "NO CHANGES" to these drafts - so this is it, what the main floor of our future house will be. We did ask that the bay windows have window seats, and that the non-bay bedroom windows start 36" from the floor, which is probably what he'd been planning anyway. Our current house has windows that start just 21" from the floor. While that gives us a fantastic view, it's nice to have space below the window for a night stand, small table or stereo cabinet.

The red triangle in the bottom drawing shows what happens to the stairwell ceiling as we descend. This frees up space that can be used in the breakfast nook's pantry, though the pantry floor will not get any bigger than the footprint you see.
