If the elevation is high enough . . . it do get cooler.
And if there is a nice breeze on top of the mountain that would help too.
I have interesting memories from one hike across the
Grand Canyon. Up on the top of the North Rim it was
cool enough I needed a heavy sweat shirt. When I got
to the bottom of the first vertical drop it was time
to change into shorts and a T-shirt.
