The 2.0 liters are pretty wimpy, the 2.5L is a whole lot more power but from all my reading the 2.0l is a better engine, and it is the one they turbo... Sub has the 3.0 liter 6 also. I haven't worked on or driven one yet. I see some on the roads and they scoot...........

I put a 2.0L in the outback I drive, and yes its under powered!!!! and the computer isn't quite sure of the torque levels of the smaller engine, SHifts a little weird. LOL

We hit the car dealerships today, driving a Toyota RAV4 (4 cylinder), a Toyota Highlander (6 cylinder), and a Hyundai Palisade (6 cylinder). We wanted to see the 6 cylinder Hyundai Santa Fe, but the salesman said that it's been discontinued and they didn't have one on the lot. We'll have to check dealerships in other NH towns to see if anyone's got one.

We like the Highlander. It's got $4,500 in discounts that make it only $1,500 more than the 4 cylinder RAV4, and it's a much nicer car. My only complaint was that it has crappy speakers. The radio sounds muffled. In fact, the cheaper and smaller Toyota had much better audio, and the Hyundai Palisade's sound was better still. It baffles me why Toyota would put $99 speakers into a vehicle with a $34,000 MSRP, but that's what I think they did. The idjuts are going to cost themselves sales... but maybe not in our case since it'd be my wife's car and she doesn't much care about the quality of the sound. Everything else about the Highlander was great...

We tried to check out Subaru too, but we got to the dealership 15 minutes after it closed. Having driven both a 4 cylinder and 6 cylinder Toyota SUV, we're pretty set on 6 cylinders. I think the only 6 cylinder Subaru SUV is the Outback, and the salesman we spoke to briefly didn't know if they had one on the lot. He pretty much said, "Come back tomorrow."

BTW, Nemo, the reviews I'm reading describe the Subaru Forester's engine as "underpowered" and even "gutless." Do you agree?
