I can wholeheartedly attest to this! My flip-phone cost me less than ten bucks about ten years ago ... it still works like a champ. Over that time, I had to regularly replace many increasingly and prohibitively expensive "smart" phones for my sons. Fortunately, they have been "off the payroll" for a few years, now. My wife uses flip-phones, too, but hers are a little more expensive than mine - and we've had to replace hers several times, too - because the batteries crapped out.

So, yeah ... you may be right, De ... all cell phones issued to wives and children must have built-in self-destruct mechanisms in them.

Yow. Sorry about your phone.

I have this theory that the lifespan of a typical phone varies inversely with its price. I think my $15 tracphone is well over 10 years old and it's still going strong. You wouldn't think that the battery would still hold a charge, but it does. Meanwhile, my wife and son own multi-hundred-dollar smart phones that need replacing every couple of years. Their phones obviously include self-destruct mechanisms. Maybe that's what makes them expensive.
