An Impromptu Journey

Friday I got up moderately early after about four hours sleep to watch the grandson's graduation from Navy boot camp which was live streamed. Watched that. Did some stuff I been meaning to get around to for ages and then put the rest of it off so's I could take a nap. Dropped into the sack and was re-awakened around 7pm to a buncha wimmenz cryin about "what is we gonna do?" Seems the sister in law (not the evil one) had a Son in Mississippi who was undergoing a rather ugly divorce at least half of which was his fault. We will call him "D" in this article. Anyway, he had been ordered to vacate the premises and he had no where to go and no way to get there.

Being a benevolent dictaror I volunteered to go get him in my pickup and trailer. "No, no, no" they all cried you is too old and decrepit. "I only appear to be decrepit. I have the strength of ten because my heart is pure.

It was decided that a couple of members of the family would ride with me so's they could spell me on the driving. We will call them "G", who was t he husband of "C" and a niece of mine and mz ribits. It was agreed that I would go 45 miles out of my way to pick them up which I could take care of while transporting a twin bed frame, headboard and footboard to the sister in laws house where D was gonna be moving too. At 7pm I started packing stuff I thought I might need which included some rope, some tiedowns, a shooting iron just in case spack aliens tried to kidnap us as we drove across alabama. Alabama and Arkansas lead the nation is space alien kidnappins. Ya can't be too careful. Anyway, I was out of the house shortly thereafter.

On the way down there I got hung up in traffic as I passed thru a construction zone. Delay, delay, delay! Arrived at the sis in laws and they unloaded the twin bed stuffs, got in the truck and we headed out. In my brilliant kingly wisdom I decided to get back by the interstate. By get ting back, I should probably point out that I was going to have to drive back really close to my own house on the way to Mississippi. Toad suck Georgia is the real transportation hub of the southeast ya know. Guess what? They was constructing on the interstate as well as the back road I tried to take. 8 minute delay my GPS tells me. Only 12 miles I thought. This isn't really much of a delay. Two hours later I had covered the entire 12 miles, emptied my gas tank and my bladder was screaming for relief. I got off the interstate and pulled into the racetrac service station that I had filled up at less that 24 hours earlier.

...end of part 1

Liberals are like a "Slinky". Totally useless, but somehow ya can't help but smile when you see one tumble down a flight of stairs!
