We all know that Consumer Reports doesn't always get it right. I usually think that their criticisms are accurate but their compliments may not be since they're usually reviewing NEW vehicles and can't tell for a few years how well they hold up. Cheap transmission line materials, for instance, may not manifest themselves for ten years. MY transmission failed as a result of that. They corroded when salt got on them. It took 12 years, though. I don't think that's an excuse. 52k miles and the transmission lines rotted away. @#$! They should be sheathed or have a plastic guard underneath so that won't happen.

That's the sort of problem that Consumer Reports isn't going to detect. It doesn't review cars to see how long they last. There's no easy test for that except AGE.

Gold is $1,581/oz today. When it hits $2,000, it will be up 26.5%. Let's see how long that takes. - De 3/11/2013 - ANSWER: 7 Years, 5 Months

I knida have to laugh at the forester being number one. After working on them and all the research I do and after watching 10 videos tonight about transmission issue. I will refrain from stating my conclusions. A lot of folks like them. Good for them.

I will say this,,,,,,,, Last video on tranny problems subaru admits their is a problem with the torque converters, all the way to 2019. and instead and fixing the cars affected, which would put them out of business, They extended the warranties. Problem is this problem is NOT SAFE. It will leave one stranded in an intersection till the tranny decides to work. Thats all fine unless a fuel truck has the right away and you are stalled in his lane. That was the last video 9:30 seconds of a mechanics personal car. Scary.....
