That's cool. Any state without a state sales tax then?

Actually December may be too late. Maybe late September or October. Leftover on the ealer lot. Of course, the choices are limited but the deals are pretty great. And yes, you are essentially buying a one year old car but if you keep it a longtime who cares?

That is really interesting about the sales tax thing.
We get hammered here. 6.75% state sales tax

Re: "BEST time to buy a new car is when the lots are trying to get rid of this years inventory like in December....."
This year isn't normal. Trump's tariffs on Chinese consumer goods kick in on September 1st. That's what motivated us to expedite our car buying. True, the car isn't made in China. But a rising tide lifts all boats... and the opposite is true too, you know?

Also, the annual selloff of the previous year's models happens at different times with different manufacturers. It's not in December with everyone.

We saved extra money by buying in New Hampshire where there's no sales tax. Actually, it's the NH residency that does it. I could travel to any state and buy without sales tax. That's the case also for the residents of Alaska, Delaware, Montana and Oregon.
