Re: "Nice buy!! A lot of books. ANY idea as to what they are about? Is there a theme to them? History? Autobigraphies?"
Science fiction. I've been an SF buff and collector since grade school. It's a genre that, if not dying, is on the wane. Once upon a time, I found used SF books every time I hit the Saturday morning yard sales. In recent years, they've gotten few and far between.

A few months ago, I went to a rummage sale at the Cheshire County fairgrounds and ran into a lady who had ten or fifteen for sale. I bought them all, and she threw in a few SF magazines for free. We talked a little shop, then she told me that she used to own an SF bookstore and, at one time, she had over 100,000 books. She said that she still had quite a few and was looking to get rid of them. So we exchanged information and I've been waiting. This week, she FINALLY invited a handful of friends and former customers to a storage-unit sale she was having. She scheduled us to come at different times. I volunteered to be last - telling her that I would probably clean her out, depending on how much she had. I said I couldn't do that with a clear conscience if I knew others were still coming...

She was selling by the box. They are mostly paperbacks, and there were about fifty per box. I took all 27 at five dollars apiece. She threw in three boxes of SF magazines for free.

I also met the publisher of Amazing Stories... a well known SF magazine dating back to the '30s. He happened to be there when I showed up. He even gave me a free current copy. I had him autograph it. He laughed as he did it and assured me that it added absolutely NOTHING to its value!!!

I don't actually know how many SF books I had prior to this but a lot. I'll guess that the additional books double my SF library, but I really don't know. So much of my library has been boxed up for fifteen years, and I don't want to unpack the boxes and make a mess until the barn is ready. (I just hope mice haven't gotten into the boxes. ) And then, yeah, I'll be putting up shelves.

Gold is $1,581/oz today. When it hits $2,000, it will be up 26.5%. Let's see how long that takes. - De 3/11/2013 - ANSWER: 7 Years, 5 Months
