That reminds me of something I noted during my recent vacation.

Several places I have noticed these 'frontier farm' museum type
places. Interesting information about how our fore-fathers
lived and tilled their lands is available at those places.

You might also look up 'sorghum'. One variety is used for making
brooms, and another variety was crushed for the juice then boiled
down to make molasses - a 'homemade sweetener'.

That's what I'm doing tomorrow too. I bought some plastic sheeting and will spread it out for the fall and winter. That should make the grass beneath it die.

The new garden location probably won't do well next year... it's rocky and the soil quality is poor... but it's a lot bigger. Over a couple of years, the quality will improve. I'm a big fan of compost.
