ribit,
In general, I would certainly like to pull back our troops from being in hot spots all over the globe. IMHO, we still need a strong military presence in South Korea and Japan to counter North Korea and China and a presence in Eastern Europe (I'd rather they be in places like Poland, Czech Republic, and Hungary than in Germany) to counter Russia. If it were up to me, I'd tell that pussified ass-wipe Erdogan that we are helping the Kurds establish an autonomous Kurdistan and quarter our troops there to guarantee its continued existence. As long as the Turks, Syrians, and/or Russians don't cross the Kurdistan border, no problems. If the Turks, Syrians, Russians, Iraqis, Iranians, NATO, and/or the UN don't like it ... too bad ... f@#k 'em!
As for places like Afghanistan, Somalia, etc. ... we should pull our guys out of there. I'd have fast attack ships and helicopter carriers be available to protect ships sailing close to Somalia and in and out of the Strait of Hormuz with orders to give one warning to any threatening vessels and then blow them away if they continue to persist. They don't like it - f@#k 'em! I am tired of this bullsh!t ... the quicker the bully boys of this world figure out that we say what we mean and mean what we say in no uncertain terms; the quicker they back off.
Just my two cents.
