What's that you ask?

Yesterday I went over to the Microcenter store and purchased on sale a solid state hard drive for $31.00

That is dirt cheap for those. I received my hard drive adapter and a couple cables that support SATA 6 data speed .

I then used Norton Ghost 11.5 to clone my estern digital Blue hard drive to the new solid state one using disc to disc . It took about an hour but it was perfect.

SO this morning I booted up tot he new SSD hard drive . It took 12 seconds from a cold boot to desktop ready to go...

Yeah, just a "small" increase in speed.... Blown away by a cheap fix to speed up my desktop.

Earlierin the year I got a Quad core cpu and installed it which in effect gives me 8 cores as 4 are hyper threaded in addition to the 4 actual processing cores.
That helped some but the changing to a sold state drive was absolutely mind blowing....

If you have a computer tha is somewhat slow booting up I highly recemmend the change. They only come in laptop size so they work in laptops as well as in desktops.

The easiest means of replacing a slow hard drive with a fast one is to simply do a disk to disk copy of the original hard drive using the new SSD one as destination one you are copying to.

If youa re interested in a cheap and incredibly lightning speed upgrade I can send anyone Hirens Boot CD which has the software for lots of things on it, including GHOST 11.5 It was all free but lots of computer fixing and analyzing tools are on this disk..

I am a happy camper this morning!
