Grandpa is beaming this morning.
My tenth grade grand daughter went to an invite only softball camp and workout at a division 2 universirty who actually plays against several division 1 schools and wins,
last Saturday.
My daughter and sonny boy talked to the head coach of the softball team last night.
The coach told them that
1. He wants her there on scholarship when she graduates high school so he will begin saving funds for good scholarship for her. and
2. That if she were at the schoold now, she would be be playing on the field in the lineup for him now... She is that good already. She is a catcher with a near erfect ta time and a rocket arm she can throw to second on a perfct line at 62 mph . Nobody steals on her. She threw out the states most prolific base stealer three times in one game last fall at a tournament of elite travel teams.
She has already been offered by one Division 1 school, now this schiool which is our preference because it is smaller and my wife's sister has worked there for 30 years. She is heading to Liberty University at another close up workout by their women's softballcoach for the second time this weekend. Leaving tonight after school.
Workouts tomorrow.
The coach told all the players last weekend that they MUUST throw in excess of 60 MPH top play for this team.
Granddaughter was timed at 67 MPH LAST YEAR with a radar gun. She holds back a lot playing with the girls on her travel team because she does not trust them to catch the ball if she throws it full force...
She let it rip up att he college last weekend because she thought these college girls would catch it.
Well, several of them did not.... They aren't accustomed to seeing someone this young throw so fast and accurate...
Between the scholarship money for the softball program the university has a lot of student aid money available so that the costs for her to attend there would be very small.
And only an hour and 15 minutes away from home...
That was exciting to learn this morning!
