Vermont's nearest gas station is never more than New Hampshire's nearest station. On occasion, it's considerably less and worth the slightly longer drive. On my many drives to Virginia, the cheapest gas encountered has often been in Vermont and Virginia prompting me to tank up in those two states. (Unfortunately, I always tended to need gas around the mid-point of the trip too.)
