CDC changes how they count Covid-19 deaths

So the CDC has changed its COVID count and cut it in half, because it is now actually looking at people who happened to die, but had the COVID infection at the time of death. Read the article, and look at the charts, and pay particular attention to the second chart.
It shows that VA deaths from straight-out COVID are at 351, not the over 580 that the VDH shows. I wonder if all states will now revise the way they count these cases/deaths.
