The smartest things I read were: "I don't claim to know all of 'em.... I have no idea.... I have no idea there either"

You are attempting to attribute and promote a marginal decrease in morbidity between 2019 and 2020 due to a 105 day decrease in "pigging out at buffets" and we all know that specific problem, obesity and all of the associated complications/diseases, is a long term issue we are actually facing, right?

Now obviously a drug deal gone bad might cause an immediate death yet it would be such a small % that it would not even be a subset of any numbers and almost all deaths listed at the CDC are for the good ole reasons they were in 2019.

THAT is the point.

WHERE are all of the deaths and surely you do not believe that by trashing the global economy and shutting down commerce, plus social distancing etc., was worth this toll??

This is a 'controlUSvirus' period. All imhYCo

PEACE

Re: "even though we have fewer drivers, we still have 35,577 FEWER deaths than last year."
I gave you several benefits of being locked down, and I don't claim to know all of 'em. How many people's heart attacks were averted by not pigging out at buffets? I have no idea. What's going on with gang activity? I have no idea there either - though I know that the violence is way down due to people staying home. How about with drug overdoses? Probably reduced there as well. The U.S. flu season was shortened this year so that probably saved a few thousand lives. What about babies cared for by their mothers instead of abused in a daycare center? What about elderly people, put into care centers and then not allowed to leave? (Might have saved lives, might have taken them. I don't know.)

To me, 40,000 fewer deaths in 4 months seems if anything to be a bit light.
