Yeah, I'm glad she stood up to the judge in her case. She took a principled stand. She reopened her salon, and to my knowledge, she:
1. did NOT force or coerce any of her employees to return to work - completely voluntary on their part;
2. kept her salon cleaned, observed social distancing, and had everyone wear masks;
3. encouraged her customers to make their own decision about coming to her salon - again completely voluntary on their part.
I understand the concerns of local, state & federal governments to do what they can to keep the hospitals from being initially inundated, but this is supposed to be a free society - a society where the government answers to the people, NOT the other way around. Government does not have the right to autocratically destroy the legal livelihoods of citizens, no matter how noble the bureaucrats think their reasons are. Here in Dallas County, our hospitals NEVER got anywhere near full capacity - period. Will reopening our economy mean that the cases of Chinese Virus will probably swell? Yes - no doubt. But, NO ONE should have ANY expectation that government can keep ANYONE "safe" throughout their lives - especially where a virus is concerned. Keeping ourselves "safe" ... and "healthy" ... and "gainfully employed" ... and "educated" ... and "clothed and housed" ... is on each of us - not some bureaucratic boob. Government, in general, is inefficient and incompetent - that is proven each and every effing day. So, WHY would anyone want to rely on government to be their primary provider of "safety and security." Government can't find its own ass with both hands.
So, this Dallas County resident applauds Shelley Luther.
