the Koreans did their testing EARLY in their outbreak while the United States was late to the game. That made all the difference.

...a good portion of America is still stuck in the pre WWI and WWII philosophy that our oceans will protect us. Many still view the rest of the world as "slightly interesting, but not important".

Early testing allows for early treatment AND an early quarantine of those who would otherwise be spreading the disease.

It looks to be that hydroxychloroquine works best when it is prescribed VERY early... as in, when a patient has the first signs of a cold. Here in the U.S., many doctors are giving it to patients when they're struggling to breathe. In fact, many patients are told to stay away from hospitals UNTIL they have trouble breathing. By that time, lung damage has already occurred. It's much too late!
