Vanessa Wong ~ Since the last recession, ~30,000 journalism jobs vanished. Journalists laid off today will likely be unemployed for months and likely, by necessity, have to find employment in other fields. A lay-off now would effectively end a career in journalism. We have to save jobs.
Dear Vanessa
Journalism is not a job, it is a hobby. The journalist laid off finding employment in other fields is "doubtful". People with no concept of reality and have no real world experience are not in demand. However, it is not the end of a journalistic career. After a couple of years of working at a real job, scrounging to make ends meet and learning to do without they will learn to write articles that interest or help real people. BTW: I don't remember anyone squawking about saving jobs when AT&T was laying of 30,000 or so every year.
Liberals are like a "Slinky". Totally useless, but somehow ya can't help but smile when you see one tumble down a flight of stairs!
