Python is an interpreted language, and it is freely available.
It comes (at least every Linux I've tried so far) in a Linux
distribution. But Python for Windows is also available free.

If memory serves me correctly, Tkinter came in free with it.

http://www.python.org/downloads/windows/

I believe this is the site I downloaded it from.

There are also tutorials and tons of information available
on the web for it.

By the way, that Parabola program of mine runs just fine
on both a Linux box at work and this PC here at home. No
differences in the code. (Although on the Linux box I
have to open a text command window and set the path then
run the command to run the program. In Windows I just double
click the source file.)

# cd Python_Play
# To run the program from the command
# prompt first run cd python_play to
# set the path to the file
# python3 Quad_call_h.py
# Runs python and the source file Quad_call.py

Re: "Tkinter"
I'm not familiar with it... or with anything else about Python. Is it freely available? Maybe I'll nab a copy if I can and try catching up to you. I may as well tap into having a Python expert living in my house (probably for a couple of more months. My son is already making plans to move back to Charlottesville)...

He's getting more into his special project now. He gave a presentation last week to two guys from Intel, both of whom are PhDs with "Director" as part of their job titles (one was something like "Director of Processor Architecture"). He says it went well - his presentation was the only one that didn't get picked apart by the two. (Which COULD mean that they didn't find it interesting, I suppose...)

The goal of the project, remember, is to make Intel's future processors even faster by introducing "predictive" algorithms.
