Re: "DO THOSE same forms also provide a water proof barrier to ground water or will water over time find its way in?"
I don't know about water prevention. I think/hope that by virtue of being within 100 yards of a hilltop, there won't be an issue with groundwater. I know water can sometimes be forced up, but it's not common. If water gets in, it would probably be as a direct result of rain or snow melt. I've got a lot of confidence in the guy who is doing the excavation, though. He's very experienced and should be able to slope the runoff outward from the house. I'll be surprised if it hasn't been handled but I'll ask if I see him on Wednesday.

The insulating forms for the concrete pour are a great idea for proving insulation for the foundational walls of the house De. Great job there,

I have a question though.. What about water prevention coming through the walls?

DO THOSE same forms also provide a water proof barrier to ground water or will water over time find its way in?

Will they spray the outside of the foam forms with a rubberized water proof barrier before backfilling?

Inquiring minds want to know ! Laughing That'sa boutthe only thing I can see that would concern me.. Looks really nice.... The house should be extremely well built and you guys should enjoy it the rest of your earthly lives... I do hope so!

Great job sir. Of course I realize it was probably mrs. De who did most of the thinking... lol! Thumbs Up Thumbs Up
